Try to freak out and act normal when I say this, but it’s officially March. Like where did that time go already? Crazy I know right! But with a new month that can only mean one thing, and that is our friends at Sony have released the monthly free PlayStation Plus games!

There’s no denying that Activision’s Call of Duty franchise is one of the all-time great’s in modern day gaming culture. Originally released back in 2007, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was an absolute juggernaut on the previous generation offerings, almost being a must have for the collection not only because of its iconic campaign but also for its multiplayer. 2016 gave the world Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare which brought along a remastered version of Modern Warfare as a “bonus” but wasn’t overly well received as you still needed to have the Infinite Warfare to play the remastered offering. Finally in 2017 a stand-alone version of the remastered version was fully released. And this brings us to where we are today. Jump into one of the greatest campaigns in video game history as John “Soap” McTavish alongside the legendary Captain Price of the S.A.S, battling against the worlds nasties to stop an imminent nuclear threat. Keep an eye out for my personal favourite missions of all time “All Ghillied Up” especially now it glorious 4k if you have all the hardware needed.

The other game on offer is 2016’s The Witness developed and Publish by Thekla, Inc. The Wintness is a first person open world puzzle that when released well and truly could have been in the game of the year conversations. Take control of someone who has woken up on a mysterious seemingly deserted island, with no memories of who you are or how you got to this island, exploration to find clues seems to be the only way to find answers. Inspired by another amazing adventure puzzle title Myst, The Witness offers roughly 650 different puzzles and whilst they don’t all need to be completed to finish the game they certainly offer a great intellectual challenge for a great slow burn offering.

As you can see both are great titles and are a must have for any PlayStation Plus Collection!

Metacritic rated the PS+ February titles with the following scores:

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered – 8.3/10
  • The Witness – 8.7/10
