Gamescom is back again and it wouldn’t be complete without the Xbox Gamescom 2021 showcase. With over an hour of footage from upcoming Xbox titles, it’s an exciting time for the platform.
First up was Dying Light 2: Stay Human. Developers Techland gave a look at the open world and how much freedom players are given in moving around.
Microsoft Flight Sim continues its amazing run with World Update IV releasing September 7. Xbox Gamescom 2021 announced this latest update celebrating the region of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. New aircraft Junkers JU-52 and VoloCity Air Taxi will be joining Microsoft Flight Sim in November.
Humble Games has joined the Xbox Games Pass fun with a lineup of indie titles lauching on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. They are also available on Xbox Games Pass.
Car enthusiasts were no doubt pleased to see more footage from Forza Horizon 5 ahead of its release on November 9th. Playground Games shared the first eight minutes of gameplay with Xbox Gamescom 2021, highlighting the cover cars Mercedes-AMG ONE and the 2021 Ford Bronco Badlands. A limited edition Forza Horizon 5 Xbox Wireless Controller was also announced. GOA’s Royce Wilson has written up an awesome summary which you should check out.
Real time strategy gamers have more options on Xbox, with Crusader Kings III coming to Xbox Series X|S. Age Of Empires IV also showed off an exciting storytelling element called Hands On History.
Xbox Gamescom 2021 had Double Fine Productions debuted a new trailer showing off just a taste of what you can expect from Psychonauts 2, out now for Xbox Games Pass. Such an amazing outcome for a game that started with a crowdfunding campaign. Check out the Game On Aus review to see what we thought of it!
So much more was announced, including a new ship set for Sea Of Thieves in collaboration with Gearbox Software, Trumble Valley map from State Of Decay being remastered for State Of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition, Cult Of The Holy expansion for Wasteland 3, action RPG Stray Blade is coming to Xbox Series X|S in 2022 and Steamworld creators new title The Gunk in their first 3D project.
In exciting for Xbox One owners, Xbox Gamescom 2021 also announced that cloud gaming was coming to Xbox One towards the end of 2021, along with Xbox Series X|S. Xbox Games Pass Ultimate members will now be able to play 100+ titles right from the cloud. That means no downloading games and that Xbox Series X|S only games like Microsoft Flight Sim and The Medium will be able to be played on Xbox One consoles. There was no specific information on if this update will be available in Australia, but since we are still in beta for xCloud, chances are that it won’t be available here until the service exits beta.
Curiously absent was any information about Halo Infinite. The recent multiplayer beta seemed to go well and with expectations that it will launch by the end of the year it’s a strange one to have left out.
