August’s Pokemon Presents: Everything You Might’ve Missed

EARLIER this week, The Pokemon Company released a brand new Pokemon Presents that covered all upcoming Pokemon content releasing in the future. With a whole new generation of Pokemon on the horizon in the future with Scarlet and Violet, the presentation sought to satisfy eager fans who can’t wait to learn more. However, content was showcased for other ongoing projects in the multimedia franchise.

    Pokemon World Championship 2022

A large segment of the presentation was dedicated to the upcoming Pokemon World Championships, taking place in London. A big announcement came in the addition of new games to the Championship – Pokemon Unite and Pokemon GO! These two games are now categories alongside the Pokemon Trading Card Game, Pokemon Sword and Shield and Pokken Tournament DX.

This marks the first time the Championship has come to London.

    New Mobile Game Announcements

Each of the currently supported Pokemon mobile games have seen new announcements in this Pokemon Presents.

Pokemon GO! saw a new event announced that allows international players to catch Ultra Beast Pokemon that were previously locked behind regional events. Alongside this, a new research mission has been added as well as a new method of unlocking new Pokemon with Daily Adventure Incense. Allowing players to diversify their Pokemon collection is always a good thing!

Pokemon Unite is celebrating a full year since its release. To celebrate, a new mode has been added known as “Pika Party” – where every Pokemon on the map is replaced with Pikachu. Alongside this, a new playable pokemon, Buzzwole, was released for the main gamemode.

    So much Pikachu!

Pokemon Cafe ReMix announced that Mewtwo would be joining the game, alongside other popular legendary Pokemon like Victini and Latias.

    Scarlet and Violet Announcements

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet saw the most content in the presentation. Everything from the basic premise of the game to the new Pokemon that players will find were showcased extensively in a variety of explanations and trailers.

Scarlet and Violet are based around an academy – with players enrolling in a Pokemon academy at the beginning of the game. In this academy, there is a project provided to them known as the “Treasure Hunt.” The presentation makes it seem as if this is an extended side-story to the main plot.

August’s Pokemon Presents: Everything You Might’ve Missed
This Pokemon region must have a crazy education budget.

Scarlet and Violet continues a new trend for the Pokemon series: a new gimmick. In Sword and Shield, Giganatamax was the trend. In X and Y, the gimmick was Mega Evolutions. Scarlet and Violet presents Terastallising – a method of transforming pokemon into crystalised forms of themselves. It changes the properties of some Pokemon depending on the transformation.

With the introduction of Terastallising came the announcement that the raids from Sword and Shield would also be returning, with a new twist. These raid battles do not follow a turn-based linear order but instead let players time their attacks to team up against strong opponents.

Finally – a whole host of brand new Pokemon were revealed! A new Wooper variant, Fidough and Cetitan were new regional Pokemon introduced in the presentation. Two new legendaries were also showcased. Violet’s legendary Pokemon Miraidon actually uses its wheels to drive while the other legendary, Koraidon, uses its legs to run. Koraidon still has wheels though – so I don’t really get it?

August’s Pokemon Presents: Everything You Might’ve Missed
    … Huh?

With the game set to release on November 18th, Nintendo wants everyone to start building the hype. Are you excited to ride around on your motorbike legendary in a brand new Pokemon region?  Let us know.
