FOR years, many Australian Final Fantasy XIV Online players have adopted Japanese servers as the unofficial “local servers”. But that all changes as of tonight. The much anticipated local Oceanic servers have just gone live on Final Fantasy XIV Online thanks to the launch of Patch 6.08. The Oceanic Data Centre has been the centre of much excitement within the ANZ Community since its announcement during FanFest in May of last year. Final Fantasy XIV Online Director/Producer Naoki Yoshida revealed the servers were initially meant to be ready prior to the launch of the Endwalker expansion. However this was delayed due to COVID and having to setup said servers remotely.
There are five servers within the Oceanic Data Centre ready for New Character Creation – Ravana, Bismark, Sephirot, Sophia and Zurvan. Unfortunately many players who are choosing to transfer their characters will have to wait until 4PM AEST on January 26. Server Transfers to any of the five OCE servers however will be free of charge for a limited time with multiple perks included .
Both New Character Creations and Server Transfers will include Double XP through until lvl 80 for 90 days and 10 gold Chocobo feathers, which can be exchanged for low-mid level gear. New Characters also gain exclusive bonuses of 1 million Gil and 15 days of free play time if they reach level 30 with any class during said 90 day bonus period. Characters on a Server Transfer who have owned a house or Private Quarters will be compensated a certain percentage of Gil. It’s been strongly advised that players only empty their house/quarters and not to vacate, otherwise the compensation will not work.
