In a recent survey conducted by Nielsen, American gamers have been found to be anticipating this year’s Call Of Duty title more than Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2.
The report, which surveyed 6000 gamers from the United States, has awarded Call Of Duty: Black Ops IIII a 99 point score in the Nielsen Game Rank, while Red Dead Redemption 2 received a 97.
This comes as a surprise to some as Red Dead Redemption II marks the first release from Rockstar since Grand Theft Auto V in 2013, which has become one of the best selling pieces of media of all time and continues to dominate monthly sales charts, in spite of the loyal Call Of Duty fanbase and the marked success the series sees every year.
The list measures the “overall anticipation levels… [for] …the most sought-after games being served up between September and December 2018”, indicating what titles will sell best over the coming Holiday season. It should be noted that these scores are projected from a sample size and do not indicate a definite outcome.
The highest rated title in the study is Marvel’s Spider-Man with a perfect score of 100, as listed in the PlayStation-specific list. Behind Spider-Man are Call Of Duty and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Super Mario Party in the Nintendo-specific list, which both hold a score of 98. The highest score on the Xbox-specific list is Forza Horizon 4 with a score of 84.
Following Call Of Duty and Red Dead on the list are Battlefield V (94), Fallout 76 (92), Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey (91), FIFA 19 (87), NBA 2K18 (84), NBA Live (72), Shadow Of The Tomb Raider (71), Hitman 2 (71) and WWE 2K19 (70).
Call Of Duty: Black Ops IIII is out today on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Red Dead Redemption 2 will release on October 26 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
