My cousin Kai (@Indebtski) sends Pete and I HEAPS of content to look at… I’m talking lots and lots of stuff.
This morning, he tagged us in a post spruiking the new multiplayer gameplay for the next in the Call Of Duty series.
This video, right here.
Now, I’m torn here because I have a history with the Call Of Duty series.
- I’ve fallen for the hype before (COD: World At War – HATED IT)
- I’ve been deeply in love before (COD: Modern Warfare – LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!)
- I’ve been let down before (COD: Black Ops Series – never got into it)
But, I’m particularly torn this time because I am a sucker for World War II stories.
Not just in gaming, but in life. I am absolutely fascinated by World War II, and whilst I’m no historian or student of the event, I watch and absorb as much as I can about it.
Now, they’re releasing a game that could be anything. It looks magnificent, and as always, the hype around it is palpable.
But, again, am I setting myself up for a huge disappointment?
Pete and I have discussed this in a previous Podcast, but I quickly learned that during the glory days of COD, there were alternating companies making it.
- Infinity Ward made the Modern Warfare that I BLOODY LOVED (MW2)
- Treyarch made the Modern Warfare I didn’t BLOODY LOVE (Black Ops)
Maybe, just maybe, it was the Spec Ops mode that made me head of heels with MW2? I’ve made no secret that my favourite type of gaming is co-op mission, and that mode, in that game, remains my favourite co-op game of all time.
OF ALL TIME!!!!
Mind you, I loved the multiplayer maps in MW2. Rust, Terminal, Estate, etc… brilliant memories.
I remember reading, somewhere, some time, that the public perception was that Black Ops 2 was the best MW of all time? Now, like a lot of things in life, I tend to differ from the general public on such things.
For me, hands down, Modern Warfare 2 is the best COD game.
That said, I detest Zombie modes, so that’s probably why I disliked the Treyarch versions of COD.
In any case, the question still remains.
DO I FALL FOR THE HYPE AND PURCHASE COD: WORLD WAR II?
The answer is, probably not**
**Seeing my birthday falls on November 5, I’ll probably ask for it as a present. So technically, I never bought it 😉
