Today, Pine Studio have announced Escape Simulator, a first-person puzzle game that can be played single player or co-op, will release on October 19, 2021 on Steam, and have released a brand new trailer.
Escape Simulator is a first-person virtual escape room experience from puzzle-game veterans, Pine Studio. You can customise your character and play solo or in an online co-op with up to two mates as you explore a growing set of highly interactive escape rooms.
In Escape Simulator, you will rummage through a number of rooms filled with puzzles designed by real-life escape room operators. The rooms are spread across three weird and wonderful location-packs: “Labyrinth of Egypt”, “Adrift in Space” & “Edgewood Mansion”. You can read through books, examine ancient artifacts, find clues to riddles and smash vases to your heart’s content, or throw them at your mates. Essentially, if something is not nailed to the wall, you can pick it up. And if you need to cross-reference a clue, you can just pin it to the screen which is a really cool feature.
Also included in Escape Simulator is a level-editor where you can build your very own dream escape room or check out other unique custom-rooms built by the community with Steam Workshop integration. The developers are pretty excited about this feature and here’s what the game’s team lead, Tomislav Podhraški, said about custom rooms.
“We’re so pumped to see what players create with our level-editor. We’re doing something we don’t think’s ever been done before, and we’re sure the community’s gonna blow us away with their ingenuity! The ultimate moment for us will be getting stuck in our own game – thwarted by a player who’s custom-made room is way smarter than us. That’ll be pretty neat.”
Thanks to Nerd Pirates for bringing this game to my attention and Escape Simulator launches on Steam on October 19, 2021. A free demo is available now too if you want to get a taste of the puzzle action.
