As with most teases, take this information with a grain of salt until we get more official news. Eagle-eyed gamers spotted information on the official Crysis website regarding a possible Crysis Remastered. It looks like it’s coming for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 … and Nintendo Switch!
Crysis is a first-person shooter that released on November 13, 2007 by Crytek and Electronic Arts. Those that played the game at release will remember the marvel that the game’s graphics had for that time. That’s if your PC could run it. It made many PC’s bleed e-blood, and avid gamers were quick to rush out to upgrade their hardware so they could play it in all it’s glory. It was truly a next-gen experience and it won many Game of the Year awards. For years after and still to this day, players would be familiar with the memes going around whenever you upgraded your graphics card or went for a full PC upgrade. You would immediately be posed a question:
The official Crysis Twitter account had it’s last tweet in December 2016, however it surprised us all a few days ago as it posted a cryptic message:
RECEIVING DATA
— Crysis (@Crysis) April 13, 2020
It followed up yesterday with:
Hey Nomad, you’re still with us?
— Crysis (@Crysis) April 14, 2020
The Crysis Remastered image has been removed from the Crysis website but data was mined before it was all taken down. Visiting crysis.com has a flashing image of the main protagonist, looking dashingly modern and sleek.
“From the makers of Far Cry, Hunt: Showdown and CRYENGINE, Crysis offers first person shooter fans the best-looking, evolved, and innovative gameplay, enabling players to adapt in real time to survive. Crysis Remastered brings new graphic features, high-quality textures, and the CRYENGINE’s native hardware- and API-agnostic ray tracing solution for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and – for the very first time – Nintendo Switch.”
Again, take this with a grain of salt until we get confirmation from Crysis themselves. It’s an exciting prospect that’s for damn sure. One question I have though:
