It was recently announced that Activision and Bungie would be ending their partnership and as such, Destiny 2 on PC will be leaving the battle.net launcher and heading to Steam. The game will be available to play on Steam from September 17 in the US, September 18 for us Aussies, but no word has been given on when we can transfer our accounts.
“To get ready for that move, we will be enabling you to move your current characters, gear, and progress from Blizzard’s Battle.net to Steam. We’ll have more news about how this will work later this [winter].”
While we wait, we can sign up to receive email notifications of updates and when this feature will become available. The following FAQ’s are also from the website:
Q: Which Destiny 2 purchases and entitlements transfer over from Battle.net to Steam?
A: The PC migration from Battle.net to Steam will include a one-time transfer of ALL ownership rights that a player already owns (Expansions, Silver, Account, Seasons, etc.).
Q: Can players pre-order Shadowkeep on Steam right now, and migrate their Battle.net account later?
A: Yes. Players may purchase Destiny 2: Shadowkeep from Steam’s product page now, and migrate their account at a later date.
The availability of Destiny on Steam coincides with the release of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep on September 18 which contains a new destination, new dungeons, missions and quests and a tonne of content. Check out the trailer below!
