BACK in 2014, the first and one of the most iconic raids for the franchise became available a week after the launch of Destiny. The Vault of Glass was beat only 14 hours after the raid went live. Almost 7 years later, Destiny 2 takes us back to where it all began. In a blog post published earlier today on Bungie.net, it was announced that The Vault of Glass raid will be returning in Season 14. Assistant Game Director for Destiny 2, Joe Blackburn, explains that while this is returning content, they’ve also designed it around Destiny 2’s current raid standards.
“Our philosophy behind bringing things out of the Destiny Content Vault is to keep them feeling like the content you remember while updating them to meet Destiny 2 difficulty and raid standards,” says Joe Blackburn.
If you weren’t able to get the World First the first time, now is your chance. A Contest Mode will be made available in the first 24 hours where Fireteams will compete for World First by not only beating the Vault Of Glass raid but also completing a series of challenging Triumphs. Joe also mentions there are future plans for the classic raid by releasing a Master difficulty before the end of the year.
“We’ve been really excited about how Master and Grandmaster difficulty have altered Nightfall strikes, increasing the potency of combat and the importance of executing mechanics.,” Jow Blackburn explains. “We’d like all our future RAD (raid and dungeon) content to offer Master difficulty versions, where players can earn Adept raid and dungeon gear, and while we aren’t able to commit to a Season 14 timeframe for Master VoG, we do want to take the time to develop a sustainable structure that allows us to ship these closer together in future releases.“
