Here are all the key announcements from PlayStation State of Play from June 2022!
Resident Evil
State of Play opened with the date – 24th of March, 2023. Resident Evil 4 will be coming next year to PlayStation 5 (PS5), with the narrator for State of Play announcing that the game will include PlayStation VR 2 content.
PlayStation VR2
It was also announced that Resident Evil Village is being developed for PlayStation VR2.
Three other titles were also announced to be coming to PlayStation VR2:
- The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Retribution (Chapter 2)
- No Man’s Sky
- Horizon Call of the Mountain
More Horizon Announcements
Ben McCaw, Narrative Director at Guerrilla, had further announcements to share about the Horizon franchise.
Horizon Forbidden West, on PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PS5 will be receiving a big update today. The update includes improved visual fidelity in performance mode, available on PS5 and PS4 Pro consoles, Transmog mode to switch outfit looks, the ability to reset skills and redistribute skill points, new weapons and trophies, and the introduction of game plus features and a new ultra hard mode.
Spider-Man Announced for PC
PC gamers rejoice! It was announced that Spider-Man remastered would be coming to PC, 12th of August 2022.
Stray
Cat lovers will be pleased to hear that Stray was not forgotten in the State of Play June 2022 announcements. Included in the initial launch titles announced for the PS5, Stray will finally be coming to PS4 and PS5 the 19th of July, 2022.
PlayStation Plus Extra members and higher will be able to download Stray for no extra cost when it launces next month!
The Callisto Protocol
The Callisto Protocol was announced coming the 2nd of December, 2022. The trailer for The Callisto Protocol featured action, jump scares, and bloody gore.
Rollerdome
Do you like the sound of a 70’s themed, rollerskating shooter featuring mech enemies? This was a fascinating trailer to watch, bringing a new concept to our consoles. I suspect fans of Jet Set Radio Future will like this title.
Rollerdome will be coming to PS5 and PS4 the 16th of August, 2022.
Eternights
A new game featuring action adventure and dating sim elements? Count me in!
Eternights is coming to PS4 and PS5 next year.
Street Fighter 6
The Street Fighter 6 gameplay was incredibly cinematic, featuring many of our favourite characters. The PlayStation blog shared after the State of Play announcements revealed that the game will have single player story modes and feature a new Drive System for gameplay.
Indie Game Announcements
2 Indie games were announced, with release dates later this year.
Tunic is coming the 27th of September this year.
Season: A letter to the Future is coming Fall (US) 2022.
Final Fantasy XVI
The event wrapped up with a a gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy XVI! The video shared gameplay and cinematic scenes of Ifrit and other Eikons (previously known to us as summons) battling against each other.
