Movember is the leading charity focusing on men’s health. Movember use funds raised to support awareness campaigns and research for men’s mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. Too many men die young from these causes. As a gaming community, we are getting involved, and we’d love for you to join us.
How to raise funds and awareness for Movember with Team GOA:
Grow a Mo –
“Patchy, lopsided, itchy or epic – whatever Mo you grow this Movember, your face will raise funds and awareness for men’s health.”
Some of the GOA team will be looking to grow a moustache inspired by their favourite videogame character! We have a Movember t-shirt to give away to the best moustache cosplay. Full costumes aren’t required, just a moustache that best represents a video game character.
Make a Move –
“Run or walk 60km over the month. That’s 60km for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, every hour across the world.”
GOA already has a dedicated community of people signed up for the Move campaign – including me! If you are MO growing impaired, or maybe can’t bear to part with your facial hair, sign up to make a move. For those heading outdoors to make a move, we’ll be giving our best trace artist, a Movember t-shirt.
Mo Your Own Way –
“Whether it’s a gruelling test of physical endurance or some other wildcard idea – take whatever Mo Your Own Way means to you and run with it.”
Str8JaktJim from our stream team will be sharing a 24 hour stream, from 5pm (AWST) Tuesday the 10th of November. The stream will feature the games on the new XBOX Series X console! Follow us on Twitch to join in the fun! For your campaign, you could stream every day, or try to complete ten games in your unfinished game “pile of shame” (we all have one of those!).
