At the start of the year I compiled a list of 50 games that were releasing in 2019. It was a snapshot in time then when we were super hyped for Anthem, Metro Exodus, Far Cry New Dawn, and a heap more. Some games released to date have let us down whilst others have blown us away. This year has seen some huge game releases already such as Crackdown 3, RAGE 2, Mortal Kombat 11 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Let’s not forget the many amazing indie titles such as Mage’s Initiation, Rescue HQ: The Tycoon, OlliOlli: Switch Stance and My Friend Pedro. There are also some classic games that stand the test of time and are still great to play today.
With some huge game announcements from Xbox, EA, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Nintendo, Square Enix and others at E3, plus a number of announcements from PlayStation this year, there’s a heck of a lot of games on the horizon and plenty of choice for gamers on all platforms. Coming up we also have QuakeCon (July 26-29) and Gamescom (20-24 August) so I’m sure there will be plenty more games to add to our wishlists. As it is now halfway through 2019 (can you believe it?), I thought I’d check in with the Game on AUS team and our Legendary Legends streamers to see what games they’ve been playing this year and also what they’re most looking forward to from announcements so far. Let’s start with the most played.
Pete (Frequency) – PC
Dan (Captain Albion) – Xbox One
Emily (Skittles) – PC
Chris (The Historian) – PC
Adam (Jared) – PC
Nic (Stix) – PlayStation 4
Nick (Nicco) – PlayStation 4
Alex (Menthonso) – PC
Zak (Rephl3x) – PC
Tom (Wandering Bard) – PC
A good cross section of genres there. Pete, Stix and WanderingBard were quick to put Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice on the list given the gratifying boss fights. Jared is our resident DOTA 2 expert and watching him in his streams lately, he knows every hero inside and out, what gear to use to counter enemy players and how best to use each hero. Dota Underlords is a new addition to the DOTA world and Rephl3x has been enjoying this one with Nicco. Stardew Valley and Banished are older games but they immerse you in their worlds well. Nicco loved the hell out of the Resident Evil 2 remake, and Dan has spent many hours in Rockstar’s latest epic Red Dead Redemption 2. I’ve been co-op gaming with my mate Gruntels every Monday night in MMO Legends of Aria, our spiritual successor to Ultima Online (we call our gaming night MMOnday … see what I did there?). Now let’s have a look at what everyone’s most anticipated game is.

As you can see, Borderland 3 is ever popular, especially after seeing our man Nicco’s coverage in Los Angeles earlier this year. Pete has been keen on Death Stranding ever since that super weird and creepy teaser was dropped way back in 2016. Dan and his co-op gaming buddy Ronald P Corbett (DING) are looking forward to Rainbox Six Quarantine. Emily is a glutton for punishment after playing upside down on the couch with Ori and the Blind Forest and Will of the Wisps looks even more intense. Good luck with that one Skittles! Another one for punishing games is Wandering Bard where he’s looking forward to slaying with mates in Monster Hunter World’s Iceborne expansion. Jared has been a fan of Left 4 Dead since it’s release and has been on the hunt for an equally as good co-op game ever since. GTFO has his name written all over it, and as I’m a massive Star Wars fan, Jedi: Fallen Order is what I’ve got my sights on. Where’s mention of Cyberpunk 2077 I hear you say?? April 2020 is still so far away and alot of us will get stuck into Borderlands 3, but I’m pretty sure everyone in the team will be getting Cyberpunk for KEANU!
One thing we can all agree on though is that we just bloody love gaming! We’d love to hear what games make your list, so hit us up over at the Game on AUS Facebook page and God Mode group.
