Every year, the legends at Bioware and Mass Effect fans all over the world celebrate N7 day – a day to celebrate all things from the Mass Effect universe. I’m sure there are plenty of Mass Effect fans in the Game on AUS community, so wherever you are today, lets salute Commander Shepard and our great memories of the series.
I will never forget playing Mass Effect for the first time. It was 2007 and I had just bought a new Sony Bravia 46″ TV which I set up in my bedroom. I plugged in my Xbox 360 and the first game I played on that set up was Mass Effect. I was hooked from the minute I stepped foot on the Citadel and I was intrigued by the story of the Reapers. I was also watching the reboot of Battlestar Galactica at that same time period so I was living the sci-fi dream. The ending that I experienced for Mass Effect was so epic for that time – absolutely loved that game.
Bioware has today released a patch for the Xbox One X version of Mass Effect Andromeda that’ll let you play in higher resolution, with full HDR. They’ve also released a video celebrating N7 Day 2018 which you can check out below.
Wait a minute … did Bioware just tease a possible return to the series? Towards the end of the video, General Manager of Bioware Casey Hudson tells us that N7 day for him is “coming into the studio every day, dreaming about what the next great Mass Effect game will be…” WHAT?! Then he stares at the screen taking a drink from his mug. On the mug are the words “I should go” in the typical Mass Effect font. Does this mean a new Mass Effect game is on the way?! HYPE!
Bioware also announced some brand new Shepard-approved N7 apparel from J!NX, including a new hoodie, jacket, and N7 t-shirt. I want one of those hoodies! Check out the new collection here.
Aside from the games and clothing merchandise, there’s also a range of novels in the Mass Effect universe. My co-op gaming mate Grant “Gruntels” Lehmann and I were right into the Mass Effect series and we’ve collected all the novels released to date. They are a great read and fill gaps in the stories between the games. Mass Effect Andromeda: Annihilation has just released and I’ll be ordering this in to add to my collection.
