After being delayed from its original September 30 release date to early 2022 so that developer Deck Nine Games could focus on the release of their latest game Life is Strange: True Colors, publisher Square Enix have today confirmed that the Life is Strange Remastered Collection will now launch on February 1, 2022.
The remastered collection is comprised of the original Life is Strange and its prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm, which were developed by Dontnod Entertainment and Deck Nine Games respectively.
Life is Strange places you in the shoes of Max Caufield as she returns to her hometown of Arcadia Bay. After seeing her best friend Chloe Price get shot in the school bathroom, she unlocks the ability to rewind time, granting her the ability to see possibilities and alter them as a result, with her powers used to assist Chloe in finding out what happened to her missing friend Rachel Amber. Life is Strange: Before the Storm occurs three years prior to Max’s return to Arcadia Bay, focusing heavily on the relationship between Chloe and Rachel.
Both games in the remaster make use of a new engine, resulting in more impressive lighting and visuals. The remaster of Life is Strange also contains fully motion captured facial animations, while Life is Strange: Before The Storm comes with its additional Deluxe content, such as additional outfits and the bonus “Farewell” episode that recounts the last time Max and Chloe were together prior to her initial move away from Arcadia Bay.
As a huge fan of all things Life is Strange (I’ve played through all of them expect for Life is Strange: True Colors), I can’t wait to return to Arcadia Bay as soon as the game releases next February, and I implore anyone that hasn’t given the series a chance to do so.
Life is Strange Remastered Collection will be available for purchase digitally on Stadia, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on February 1. Those who purchase the Digital Ultimate Edition of Life is Strange: True Colors will receive the Life is Strange Remastered Collection at no additional cost.
