Capcom confirmed via a Playstation State Of Play announcement and their own live stream a massive expansion coming to Monster Hunter World September 6, 2019. The Icebourne expansion will introduce an all new story in a new location called Hoarfrost Reach. The expansion is said to offer the largest region in the game so far and will have a ton of new content including new quests.
The expansion will also introduce a new difficulty mode called Master Rank, which is said to make monsters even more challenging. There are new monsters such as the horned brute wyven Banbaro and snow-buried Beotodus and an elder dragon Velkhana with powerful ice attacks. There are some fan favourites set to return Nargacuga who may have an extra move or three.
While you will need the full game Monster Hunter World to access Icebourne, Capcom are offering a free trial on PS4 from today until May 20, 2019. Capcom recently added some Witcher 3 : The Wild Hunt content and has proven to be a big hit with gamers. There is going to be a slew of new information at E3 this year about the Icebourne update.
