Despite Capcom’s E3 Showcase being largely uneventful, it was saved somewhat by the reveal that Resident Evil Village DLC is in development.
The announcement stated that the DLC is being developed “by popular demand”, however considering Resident Evil VII had a Season Pass containing numerous additional pieces of content (which were far better than they had any right to be), I don’t think it is really that surprising.
There was no information given in terms of when we should expect to see the DLC, nor what the content will focus on, but it is nice to know that we will be getting more Resident Evil Village content in the (hopefully) not so distant future.
Also revealed in the Capcom Showcase was that the Resident Evil multiplayer spin-off RE:Verse will finally launch in July. RE:Verse, a zany multiplayer game with a comic book visual aesthetic where iconic Resident Evil characters duke it out in combat was originally supposed to launch alongside Resident Evil Village, serving as a free multiplayer component for Village owners to take for a spin, similarly to how Resident Evil 3 came bundled with the 1 vs 4 mutiplayer spin-off Resident Evil: Resistance.
Like Resident Evil: Resistance before it, I don’t expect RE:Verse to knock my socks off, but I will give it a try nonetheless (it is free if you own Resident Evil Village after all!). On the other hand, I can’t wait to return to Resident Evil Village and gnaw into the DLC harder than that Werewolf gnaws off Ethan Winters fingers.
