Score: 8/10
(Yes, we know this game is a bit old, but it’s currently going for a bargain price so eyes alive)
So, I was flicking through the XBOX store when my son noted a game that he had seen “a youtuber” (urgh) playing, and he pleaded with me to buy it.
Ultimate Chicken Horse. $11 bucks. Why bloody not.
So, the purchase was made and for the next hour, my two gamer kids and I bloody laughed through a heap of the competitive multiplayer er, play.
It really is one of those games that’s perfect for a bit of game time with your kids.
For the uninitiated, the game pits you as a critter of your choice, navigating variously themed static maps from a start point to an end point.
Players earn points towards a grand total where the ultimate player will be crowned, but here’s the catch. You don’t score any points if everyone makes it to the end.
So, as rounds pass through you all get a chance to pick out a random hazard that you can place on said static map, one that hopefully nets you a victim.
Morbid? Probably. Dead funny? Most definitely.
The only problem I see with this game is that as the adult, you’ll only last an hour or so before it all gets a bit too much though.
And that in itself is a problem when your gaming kids both plead with you to keep gaming once that hour is up. It actually starts to get a little tiring.
I haven’t played this with mates during a party but I could only imagine that it would be a riot. Especially with a few drinks under your belt.
All in all, I’d rate this title 8/10. Half that score goes towards keeping my kids content and happy for a precious hour or so 😉
The game’s available on all the majors. So there!
