SAM Kerr, the captain for the Matildas, has been welcomed as EA Sports FIFA 21 Ambassador. She joins Trent Alexander-Arnold, Erling Haaland, and João Félix as FIFA 21 Ambassadors.
The news today comes after EA announced their FIFA 21 official ratings for women’s players last week. Sam Kerr placed second, after Megan Rapinoe, with an overall game score (OVR) of 92. FIFA 21 will be the 5th edition of the game that has included female players.
The top 5 Women’s player ratings for FIFA 21:
- Megan Rapinoe, United States (93)
- Samantha Kerr, Australia (92)
- Wendie Renard, France (92)
- Vivianne Miedema, Netherlands (91)
- Amandine Henry, France (91)
Under the leadership of Sam Kerr, the Matildas have had fantastic success on the pitch. The Matildas qualified for the, now delayed, Tokyo Olympic Games earlier this year. Kerr has also had success overseas, as her and Matilda’s teammate Caitlin Foord have been taking the English FA Women’s Super League by storm.
The announcement of Sam Kerr as a FIFA 21 Ambassador is groundbreaking. Kerr is the first Australian soccer player to be chosen as a FIFA Ambassador since the commencement of the program for FIFA 2017.
