The Game Awards was founded in 2014 by media entrepreneur Geoff Keighley, who also hosts and produces the program. The sixth annual Game Awards was run and won today with social media going nuts with updates, game trailers and congratulatory posts as we saw winners crowned in more than 25 different categories. In between the award categories, there were a heap of game announcements, world premiers of new games coming in 2020 and one of the bigger announcements of the day, the Xbox Series X coming next year!!

Well that’s a wrap on the Game Awards 2019 as we saw Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice take out Game of the Year and Disco Elysium picking up awards in every category they were nominated in. Death Stranding took out some awards as well.
The Game Awards created The Games Festival which features more than a dozen first-look game demos, available to download and play for a limited 48-hour window on Steam. This initiative is great because normally at shows like this, only people present at the end can play the games. Usually those of us stuck at home don’t get to play these game until an early access release, however these game demos are playable in Steam for 48 hours from the day of the show. Geoff Keighley indicated that this initiative will grow next year with demos being available across all platforms, so that’ll be exciting to hear how that evolves.
It was a great event to watch and even better to be able to play it back and watch the trailers again, all summarised here for you. Enjoy legends!
