Doom Eternal Gets Its First Gameplay Reveal.
Oh happy day! Quakecon, the annual showcase for all things id (and Bethesda), was cracked wide open to reveal a huge amount new footage and information – and it didn’t disappoint.
For fans of the critically acclaimed, re-imagined Doom (2016), the final piece of the Quakecon keynote dropped heaven while revealing hell on Earth, as we were treated to gameplay footage and exciting information about the next title in the series, Doom Eternal.
You know those questions you see on facebook every now and again that tell you the world is on fire and here’s a list of video game characters but you can only choose one? If Doomguy is on that list, pick him. The game’s director, Marty Stratton, said that he’s “the strongest, most powerful hero we’ve ever created”. Exactly what you want to hear for a series with a grand history of achieving the perfect scenario of an FPS where the player feels like they need to keep moving.
Other promises from the dev team included double the enemies, and a new feature allowing players to take control of a demon and invade other player’s games!
Doom Eternal is set for release on PC, PS4, XBox, and Nintendo Switch.
Rage 2 Extended Gameplay Reveal.
Staying with Quakecon for the moment, we were treated to a deeper look at id Software and Avalanche Studio’s Rage 2, featuring environments, story, factions, gear, and vehicles, built on “id Software’s best in class first person shooter mechanics”.
Details around Rage 2’s release are sketchy, but most information points to an Autumn release in 2019 on PC, PS4, and XBox.
QuakeCon’s key note also delivered a sneak peak of Murkmire, a new story and zone expansion to explore, and more game footage for the Elder Scrolls Online: Wolfhunter expansion, set for release on August 13. That’s NEXT WEEK.
Wolfhunter has you going up against Hircine, and features two new four-player dungeons, along with a tonne of new gear and collectable rewards.
If you have an hour to kill and haven’t had a chance to view the full key note yet, here’s the vid – it’s worth your time. (Skip to 26:22)
