Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Battle Royale Dates Revealed.
But does anyone care? I’m genuinely asking that question before writing this story because I’m seeing a lot of hate for CoD-Blops 4 before it’s release, or is that just what we’ve come to expect from the community for they all get sucked in and buy it again?
Anyway, Activision has announced today that the public beta test will begin on September 10, but only if you own a PS4. For every other platform you’ll have to wait until September 7, but that’s assuming it follows the same schedule as the first public beta release back in the beginning of August.
Blackout is the title of the new Battle Royal mode, and the details were released alongside a short teaser video on twitter:

Patrick Soderlund To Leave EA.
After 20 years as one of the top executives at EA and DICE, Patrick Soderlund will be departing the company to “begin a new chapter”. The announcement was made by EA CEO Andrew Wilson in a statement that was shared with staff and then on the official EA website.
Patrick’s roles with the company have included being the CEO of DICE where he oversaw the development of the Frostbite Engine, and Executive Vice President Of Worldwide Studios at EA, before his most recent position as Chief Design Officer for EA.
He’s also the executive who copped the full force of the community during one of EA’s darkest times – the Star Wars Battlefront 2 Loot Box saga. You may recall it was Patrick who admitted EA “got it wrong“. EA also vowed to learn from its mistakes at the time.
It begs the question – is Patrick a scapegoat for EA investors? EA has seen a rise in its share price over the past few days as information about the change at the top slowly made its way into the marketplace. My thoughts are that if you have someone who has driven the company through as hard a time as what Patrick has, maybe it’s not a bad decision to keep him. Experience is crucial, and the loot box saga was a baptism of fire for EA and its senior executive. Then again, it may very well be that Patrick needed a change, as a baptism of fire can leave you burnt out.
Either way we wish Patrick well, his work has served the gaming community through some of the biggest titles the world has ever scene, and that can’t be ignored.
No major announcements have been made as to a replacement for Patrick, or whether he will be replaced at all considering EA is also going through a reshuffle. Patrick will see out a three-month transition period before departing completely, if you ever see him at a pub, buy him a beer and say thank you for the awesome stuff he did over 20 years at EA and DICE.
Where’s Fortnite’s Latest Patch?
Fans of the franchise have been left wondering as Fortnite’s latest round of updates arriving via patch 5.2 went missing. Epic games has become known for a pretty consistent schedule of release when it comes to upgrading its in game content, and those releases usually happen on a Tuesday, but 5.2 has been a little different and with none of the usual 12 hour warning from Epic which has left fans wondering when it’s going to happen.
Epic games has teased a new Heavy Sniper Rifle and a fresh LTM for the update.
Without knowing too much other than what we’ve seen from Epic in the past, we’re thinking that we’ll see the patch update arrive by the end of this week, and considering the latest batch of challenges will launch tomorrow (August 16), we’re pretty confident Epic will launch the patch alongside it.
Other rumours are swirling that the delay in release for 5.2 could be because Epic’s dev team are working on their next big thing, with data miners reporting that they have found evidence to suggest that the in-game rifts could be set to close as a mini-event as early as August 18.
There is also a new set of Battle Pass challenges on the cards with the information leaked online in recent days:
- Searching for big stone heads
- Completing time trials
They will also need to score Minigun or Light Machine Gun eliminations and take out opponents at Tilted Towers:
- Deal headshot damage to opponents (0/500)
- Harvest building resources with a pickaxe (0/3000)
- Search where the Stone Heads are looking (0/1)(HARD)
Battle Pass:
- Search Chests in Lonely Lodge (0/7)
- Complete timed trials (0/5)
- Minigun or Light Machine Gun eliminations (0/2)(HARD)
- Eliminate opponents in Tilted Towers (0/3)(HARD)
