You may have heard the news today that one of our absolute favourite studios, Telltale Games, has announced it’s decision to close shop due to “insurmountable challenges.” The studio behind such incredible titles as The Walking Dead, and Batman, both critically acclaimed series, put out this statement via it’s twitter page.

It was crushing to read this, not just because of how many of us at GOA are fans, but also because it meant job losses for a group of incredibly talented people. Well all hope is not lost, not long after the news broke, the hashtag #TelltaleJobs started trending on twitter thanks to a heap of the gaming community getting together to help these guys, and it would seem that one studio has already put its hand up to take some in.
Moments ago Ubisoft San Francisco tweeted that they’re organising a get-together to catch up with any Telltale employees who need work:
#TelltaleJobs folks — meet us Monday 9/24 on the patio at BJ’s in San Rafael starting at 4:30PM. Let’s talk about job opportunities over some drinks & food, our treat. https://t.co/RAOWQU3Z1o #UbiSF

This is one of those “gamers doing good” moments, but considering Ubisoft has signalled its years ahead are full of titles yet to be released, they’d be silly not to be looking into who they could snap up – and here’s hoping they, or any other studio willing to pick up some talent, use the opportunity to keep Telltale’s series going!
