ANZPL Season 4 Round 6 Game 1
Christchurch Conquerors Vs Brisbane Bulldogs
The Conquerors opened Round 7 on defence of their Sand River map pick. Bulldog’s Ravvi took a lot of early damage getting into a hold down position along the ridge at D6. Eventually Ravvi went down while Bulldogs were still positioning for a push. The Bulldogs did try an A line push, but losing Ravvi early hurt them and allowed the Conquerors to take the opening match. The return leg so the Conquerors take some decent southern map control but the Bulldog’s setup didn’t allow for any easy ways in. Conqueror’s managed to find a two-v-one contest and take a kill. A mid brawl ensued with Conquerors getting some good kills but the Bulldogs got some crossfire action. The Conquerors almost pulled off an amazing capture win, but instead Bulldogs stood firm and got a last second reset shot to level the game 1-1.
Bulldog’s map pick of Murovanka was the site of the next match. The Conquerors set up for the 1 flag defence but Bulldog’s went against the grain to move onto the 2 flag. Conquerors had the vision and knew where all the Bulldog’s players were, which proved an issue for them. Going a tank down, the Bulldogs moved off the 2 flag but Conqueror’s were able to isolate tanks and pick up a defensive win. The Conquerors started the return leg by moving quickly onto the 1 flag but Bulldog’s MadHouse took a 1v1 battle with Bluey bleeding him heavily. The Bulldogs dumped onto the Conquerors as Bluey went down. Bulldogs eventually overcame the Conquerors sending the game into a tie breaker.
The action moved to the tie breaker map of Prokhorovka with Conquerors picking defence, an interesting move with a fair few attacking wins on this map for Season 4. Conquerors secured the north eastern section of the map while Bulldogs scouted to try and find the Conqueror’s positions. Bulldog’s MadHouse moved onto the 1 flag with the entire Conqueror’s line up on the other side of the train line. Conqueror’s KritaKil made the cross and got a reset on MadHouse without bleeding too much, but any further resets would cost him with the Bulldogs set up to punish any advances. KritaKil ends up over-committing and dying while Madhouse survived. With Bulldog’s Soldat hunting the Bulldogs were in the driver’s seat and ended up taking the tie breaker win.
The Brisbane Bulldogs take the tie breaker win 3-2 against the Christchurch Conquerors.
ANZPL Season 4 Round 6 Game 2
Perth Panthers Vs South Sydney Skorpions
The Panthers started on defence on their map pick of Tundra. Panthers set up fairly standardly while the Skorpions scouted to find a way in. With 3:30 gone the Skorpions rotated south and to get onto the 2 flag. Panther’s goober spotted a couple of the Skorpions and realised that Skorpion’s Napalmer was relatively unprotected on the 2 flag. Napalmer eventually went down and that was the signal for fights to break out all over the map. The Panthers were able to pick up a close win and take an early lead in the series. Moving to attack on the return leg, the Panthers set up for a 1 flag attack early. After a lot of positioning the Panthers pushed through the river from the south and deleted Skorpion’s Night. Napalmer went down not long after and the dominos continued to fall. Panthers go up 2-0 on their map pick.
The Skorpions were impressive of their map choice of Mines. They hook the hill quickly on attack and pushed onto the 1 flag trying to draw out the Panthers. The Skorpions moved onto the 1 flag with JT at G8 to provide support. Panthers were able to force the Skorpions off the hill as the Skorpions bled down the Panther’s HP advantage. Skorpion’s Russian rotated around the hill and created a cross fire. Panther’s Godmode tried to stay alive but Napalmer was the hero with a kill onto Godmode, bring it back to 2-1. On defence on the return leg, Skorpions settled into a hold down position. Panthers took a lot of map control before pushing onto the 1 flag. Panthers pushed on the Skorpions and got a couple of kills but the Skorpions weathered the storm and sent it to the second tie breaker of the night.
Heading back to Prohorovka, Panthers chose to defend. Both teams headed to the rail crossing at E6. Focus fire was key as Napalmer went down first, but Panther’s Twit not far behind. Skorpion’s Auzzie and JT isolated JS and from there the Skorpions were in control and take the tie breaker win.
South Sydney Skorpions defeat the Perth Panthers in a tie breaker 3-2.
ANZPL Season 4 Round 6 Game 3
North Sydney Sentinels Vs Adelaide Action X
The last game of the night went to Sentinel’s map pick of Himmelsdorf with them on the defence. Action X tucked into the south east corner before pushing with two tanks along the K line. Sentinels were aware of this play though and locked the Action X in. With Action X’s CJ and Dongerlord going down the Sentinels tightened the net and took the win. On their return leg Action X made the unusual play of crossing the courtyard and paid for it with Action X’s Val being set on fire. Action X’s Saxon was targeted by the Sentinels and went down just as Sentinel’s TheReturned did. The Sentinels moved onto the 1 flag cap. Action X got the reset but that was the signal for Sentinels to move to all out attack. Adelaide were able to hold out to take a timed win and level the series 1-1.
Action X were aggressive on their map pick of Sand River, moving very quickly on the 2 flag on their attack. Sentinels were able to find the shots in and forced the Action X off the cap. The match settled into a 3v3 but Sentinels had the HP advantage, which they made the most of their shots to took the win. With an outright win in their sights the Sentinels started their Sand River attack gathering knowledge. Sentinels sent two tanks to join Rowendy in the middle and dumped onto Val. They picked up the kill but an ignite on Rowendy saw him go down. The Sentinels took a 3v2 tank advantage. CJ was farming up a storm until he went down. A full health Dongerlord entered the battle against two low HP Sentinels. Dongerlord chose to hide, allowing Action X the timed win and sending us another tie breaker.
Back to Prokhorovka, Sentinels chose defence. Action X got an early kill onto TheReturned and take a 5v4 tank advantage. They moved towards the 2 flag and set up to prevent the Sentinels from crossing. The Action X moved onto the 2 flag cap, pressuring the Sentinels. Sentinel’s Rainbow was able to cross to the south and get vision but Dongerlord rotated to keep him occupied. Rainbow was able to get a set in at the cost of his life. Dongerlord rotated and got shots into Sentinel’s Del as the rest of the Action X dumped onto the Sentinels and took the tie breaker win.
Adelaide Action X take the third tie breaker of the night 3-2 against the North Sydney Sentinels.
Fantasy League
Dongerlord (367.0) and Saxon (293.7) were the standouts from Action X’s tie breaker win, with Syndy (324.9) from their opponents North Sydney Sentinels also making an appearance. Russian (348.5) from the Skorpions shone in their tie breaker win over the Panthers while MerryTurnipDay (347.6) performed admirably in the Conqueror’s tie breaker loss.
