Suffice to say, 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone so far. Before COVID-19 was a thing, us gamers had excitement at an all time high with the regular slew of gaming conventions set throughout the year, new game announcements and new console releases to look forward to. That has all changed with the cancellation of large physical gaming conventions such as the Game Developers Conference and E3, amongst many others, we’ve been waiting to hear what form of digital content may be released by the big names in gaming. Xbox have come to the forefront by announcing Xbox 20/20 showcasing monthly moments for the rest of the year of what happens next in the world of Xbox.
Not only are they preparing for the launch of Xbox Series X, but 15 Xbox Game Studios teams around the world are busy working on the next big games to be ready for this new console. Xbox is not just all about console gaming either with the recent addition of Xbox Game Pass on PC. Xbox plan to support the PC gaming community by making all major releases available on Game Pass for PC including Halo Infinite, Wasteland 3, Minecraft Dungeons and Microsoft Flight Simulator. The Xbox 20/20 monthly moments start late tonight with an episode of Inside Xbox at 11pm AWST Thursday / 1am AEST Friday. Here’s what we’re expecting to see tonight and in the coming months from the post over at Xbox Wire:
“For the Xbox 20/20 May update, we will focus on giving you a first look at next-gen gameplay, trailers and sneak peeks from a wide variety of publishing partners and independent developers across the globe and industry, including Ubisoft’s recently announced Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and hear from game creators about what they’re doing with their games on Xbox Series X.
We’ll be confirming games that utilize our new Smart Delivery feature, which ensures that you always play the best version of the games you own for your console, across generations. And all the games you’ll see will be Xbox Series X Optimized, meaning they are built to take advantage of the powerful Xbox Series X features that make games look and feel incredible, including 4K resolution at up to 120 frames per second, DirectStorage, hardware-accelerated DirectX raytracing, super-fast load times and much more.
In July, we will dedicate time to focus on the incredible games coming from Xbox Game Studios. A number of our studio teams are looking forward to sharing first looks at new gameplay, insights from development teams being optimized for Xbox Series X, and brand-new game announcements. We cannot wait to share this initial look at what some of those teams are working on.”
Xbox head Phil Spencer and Xbox ANZ are adding to the excitement with the following tweets:
Excited for the kickstart of Xbox 20/20 tomorrow with Inside Xbox. Especially love that all games have never been seen in an Xbox show before. New games for a new generation, studios large and small. Lots more thru the summer #Xbox2020

Aaron Greenberg, GM Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft also had this to add about tonight’s show, so don’t set hopes too high, but get excited anyway.
Common Qs: Thursday show will be under an hour. June news will be done differently than Inside Xbox show. July is the big Xbox Games Studios show, we will go around the world to see first looks & even new game announcements from those creative teams. Will answer more in replies. https://t.co/qMgwS0IRx7
